Artist:David Schab
    David Schab (Dawid Schab), born in 1973 in Rybnik, lived for many years in Tychy. He currently lives and works in Bristol, UK. He studied Law, is a graduate of Political Science at the University of Silesia in Katowice and a postgraduate of Painting in the studio of Prof. Włodzimierz Karankiewicz at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. He has been involved in easel painting since 1999, but drawing has accompanied him since he was young. He attended drawing and painting classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow for two years. His preferred creative technique is oil on canvas and dry pastels on paper. David Schab's works are characterized by very rich and bold colors, strong contrasts and play of light and shadow, which is a clear reference to the trend of colorism and expressionism. The artist is strongly influenced by such painters as Matisse, Gauguin, van Gogh or Jan Szancenbach, Józef Czapski and David Hockney. The subjects of David Schab's works are mainly still life, landscapes and portraits. He took part in many solo and group exhibitions in Poland and the UK, as well as in Italy. His works are in private collections throughout Europe, in the United States, South Africa and Asia. The artist also participated in the British TV show "Landscape Artist of the Year" on SKY ARTS. He is also a feature writer - his texts have appeared in such magazines as Artysta i Sztuka (no. 31), Tydzień Polski (UK), Gennaio Toscana Nuova (Italy), Vogue (UK edition). He has made media appearances on TVP, Radio Wnet and Radio Bristol (UK). David Schab is a frequent charity contributor, donating his works to charity auctions, mainly for sick children.
