Daniel Pielucha

Daniel Pielucha was born on 22 May 1959 in Wieluń. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow - Faculty of Graphics in Katowice. The artist practices easel painting, known as Polish surrealism. He has presented his work in more than 50 solo exhibitions, including in Katowice, Gdansk, Oświęcim, Częstochowa, Głogówek, Szczyrk, Warsaw and Lublin. He has represented Polish art at numerous group exhibitions - in Berlin, Stockholm, Istanbul, New York, Mexico. He is the recipient of many awards and prizes, including the 21st Polish Painting Festival in Szczecin (2006) and the 3rd Animalis Painting Triennale in Chorzów (2014). In 2019, Daniel Pielucha received the Decoration of Honor Meritorious for Polish Culture. In his work, the painter, following the example of his great predecessors, looks for features that testify to the distinctiveness of our culture. With great respect for the workshop and history of Polish painting, he emphasizes its unique character. He finds inspiration in the retiring landscape of our province, and therefore willingly participates in the most important plein-airs of figurative art. The folklore of the Polish countryside, beliefs and customs are the scenery of painting visions, in which the author expresses his attitude to the modern world and the existence of the other.
